Acne is the most common skin disease. It affects 80% of the young population and produces an alteration in the functioning of the pilosebaceous follicles.
What we know as ‘pimples’ are a type of non-inflammatory lesion characteristic of acne, whose scientific name is comedo . There is an occlusion of the pilo-sebaceous follicle (pore), which causes a retention of sebaceous secretion. It is in this phase, when the so-called closed and open comedones appear, that is, the classic black and white pimples.
